You’re right. We can understand when a comment written by AI is pasted in the comment box.
I realized this last year when a new writer started to follow me and left some incredibly professional level comments on my posts. My regard for that person grew exponentially thinking that a writer with such brilliant grasp on literature took the time to read my posts let alone leave such spectacular comments. Later I had the opportunity to talk to this writer on a video chat and a few more correspondence over emails and chats made me suspect the involvement of AI in their writings. If you can’t type a simple chat message without making an absolute mess of grammatical and logical errors then you need to think before posting such polished write ups. Because sooner or later people will figure out the AI involvement.
I didn’t think about how pasting these posts would result in the free training of AI. When we pay to read the content in Medium, how can we let the AI read and learn everything for free?
Sometimes I use AI to proofread the stories I write. But after reading this I don’t think that’s a good idea either.
You gave me quite a good for thought, Bridget. 🙏
