Without a Choice
Flash Fiction — For some, there is no choice!
The streets were empty. Only a very few were courageous enough to go outside, that too for emergency purposes only.
Asha occupied her usual spot next to the store. Usually, by this time the store would be buzzing with people.
Not anymore.
These days, even her counterparts with whom she had to compete earlier were absent.
Asha glanced at the almost empty shelves in the store from outside. The rich had no reason to risk their life to buy food. They had already emptied the store stocking up their pantries.
But hers was a different story. She had to go and sell those notebooks to buy her food for the day. Her little money bag and stomach was emptier than the shelves inside the store.
Looks like today is yet another day she would go to sleep on an empty stomach.
