Sudha hummed along with the song that played on her phone. There is something relaxing about humming along without worrying about getting scolded, she observed.

This was a new change for her.

The entire turn of events amused her. Her phone singing at this odd time, her mind carelessly following the tunes and wandering aimlessly.

This was new.

Usually, at this time she would be preparing dinner for Shekhar. He never approved of listening to music when she cooked. He never approved of the music she liked to listen to. As it turned out, he never approved of anything she did, liked, or wished to do.

It took a lot of courage to take that step to break those chains that shackled her.

Signing those divorce papers gave her the freedom to hum today.
